  • What is Weightlifting?
Weightlifting is the term for the practice of Olympic Weightlifting. We practice the Snatch & Clean + Jerk. If you are a complete beginner to exercise: we recommend going to the gym for at least 6 months prior to trying to learn Weightlifting - as there is a level of skill and mobility required to make progress.
  • What can I expect us to work on together in a PT session?
If you are doing a technique freshener - you will go through a skill with the coach which will help you progress further in your Weightlifting. If you are a 1:1 VIP client you will go through a day of your custom program with your coach. These PT sessions are 60 minutes long and invaluable.
  • How many PT sessions will I need?
All beginners need at least 5 x PT sessions. We highly recommend at least 10 sessions. If you already know how to Weightlift and come from a CrossFit / sporting background: you can just book in a technique freshener (one off casual session) to work on a skill you need help with, e.g snatching.
  • What is your cancellation policy?
For PT - We have a strict 24 hour cancellation policy. If you cancel within 24 hours of your session, you are expected to forfeit your session or reschedule to a different time that week. All Casual Sessions can either be pre paid or paid on the day. For Online Coaching - we have a 15 week minimum commitment. This is because we cannot actually transform your technique in less time and want to provide an amazing service. If you want to leave prior to the 15 weeks you will still need to pay out the minimum term: and then you can cancel. There are no joining or hidden fees besides failed payment fees if a client fails a debit (which go to the debiting company: EziDebit).
  • How far in advance do I need to book?
We need at least 24 hours to book in for PT clients. Sometimes we will advertise late cancellation spots on our instagram, which can be snapped up.
  • I want to compete in Weightlifting - how do I do that?
Good news! Uplift Weightlifting Club is a registered AWF club. This means you can compete under Uplift in Australian Weightlifting sanctioned competitions. You need to become a member of a state weightlifting federation & pay the fees associated & in NSW, our head weightlifting coach can coach you at the comps on our coaching calendar. You need to be a PAYING member of Uplift to be coached at competitions - we don't let non Uplift members lift under the Uplift banner due to time constraints.
  • Why is coaching more expensive than programs on the internet?
Coaching is more expensive because it is personalised. We spend up to 2 - 3 hours weekly per online client as we watch hours of training footage and provide quality feedback. Programs are good for those who cannot afford coaching, but if you want to make extensive gains - you need a personal coach. Our subscription based programming is coming in August - for as little as $12.99 a week.
  • I dont want to compete. Will you guys still take me on?
Yes we do! Recreational athletes are always welcome at Uplift. Competing is not a prerequisite, and we only let our athletes compete if they feel mentally and physically ready to. Weightlifting is an exercise for LIFE - there will be period when lifters dont compete for months / years on end: they are more than welcome to continue lifting and being coached by us!
